Southwest China's Yunnan Province saw its foreign trade volume rise by 10.1 percent in the first four months of 2019, with ASEAN countries powering the growth.

The total trade volume reached 67.86 billion yuan (9.93 billion U.S. dollars) during the period, with 28.15 billion yuan of exports and 39.71 billion yuan of imports, according to the local customs.

Trade with ASEAN countries reached 34.58 billion yuan, up by 12 percent compared with the same period last year. Trade with Thailand surged over 90 percent during the period.

Bordering Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar, Yunnan has accelerated economic and trade cooperation with countries along the Belt and Road and southeast Asian countries in recent years.
