Man of dual role: farmer performs to promote landscape and culture of SW China

Yang Xingyong, a 48-year-old farmer from Banqiao Village of Baima Town in Wulong District of Chongqing, has staged over 2,000 performances in the Impression Wulong, a well-known 70-minute-long show that depicts the landscape and culture of southwest China. His excellence in performing Chuanjiang Haozi, work songs of boat trackers in Chongqing, has earned him not only fame, but also a prosperous life. In recent years, Wulong District has been committed to developing tourism industry, as a way to attract talents and capital, and boost people's income. The tourism sector has become a major source of income for about 100,000 people in the district. (Xinhua/Liu Chan)
