Central province attracts migrant workers back with investment fund

Xinhua,February 18, 2019 Adjust font size:

Central China's Henan Province has attracted a big number of migrant workers to return home with a government-supported investment fund.

According to the provincial department of finance, so far, the fund has pumped 4.872 billion yuan (719.2 million U.S. dollars) into 18 investment projects, drawing more than 50,000 migrant workers home to start businesses or find jobs.

The provincial government set up the fund for this purpose at the end of 2017. The government provided the seed fund of 5 billion yuan. The fund has focused its equity investment in labor-intensive industries, such as agriculture, textile and food processing. The fund will soon start its second round of fund-raising.
