Celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival to consolidate traditional culture

Xinhua ,September 12, 2018 Adjust font size:

A senior Party publicity official on Tuesday called for rich cultural events to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on Sept. 24 this year.

Traditional festivals are appropriate occasions to promote Chinese culture, Huang Kunming, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, said when inspecting cultural organizations in Beijing.

Huang required more cultural events that bring people a deep understanding of the country's traditions and urged media organizations and art groups to produce cultural products that resonate with ordinary people and create a peaceful and happy festive mood.

The festival, falling on the 15th day of the eighth month on Chinese lunar calendar, is a major occasion for family reunions, with the tradition of enjoying the full moon and eating mooncakes.

Being the country's capital and cultural center, Beijing should set an example by providing high-quality cultural services to the public, Huang said.

He asked the municipal government to improve cultural infrastructure and services, launch policies to support cultural industry, and use multi-media tools to better communicate with the public.
