BEIJING, June 1 (Xinhua) -- China is pleased to see political and social stability and economic prosperity in Italy, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said Friday.

The comments came after Italian president reappointed law professor Giuseppe Conte as prime minister. Conte accepted the role, and will be sworn in with his cabinet ministers Friday afternoon.

"China and Italy enjoy traditional friendship and we are pleased to see the political and social stability and economic prosperity in Italy," Hua told a daily news briefing.

Bilateral relations between China and Italy have gained good momentum and achieved fruitful results in various fields. China is willing to join hands with the new government of Italy to further deepen political mutual trust as well as pragmatic cooperation to advance China-Italy comprehensive strategic partnership, said Hua.
