Xinhua,June 02, 2018 Adjust font size:

ACCRA, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Ghana realized a revenue of 5.94 billion U.S. dollars from its mineral production in 2017, up from the 5.29 billion dollars realized during the previous year, official figures from the Ghana Chamber of Commerce disclosed Friday.

The figure includes production for gold, manganese and diamonds produced in the country during the year under review.

Of the total revenue, gold receipts from the 12 large-scale mining firms which are members of the Chamber of Mines amounted to 3.52 billion dollars in 2017, up from 3.25 billion dollars recorded the previous year.

Gold export contributes significantly to both economic growth and revenue mobilization for Ghana, Africa's second largest gold producer after South Africa. Enditem
