Pakistan caretaker PM vows to hold transparent polls on time

ISLAMABAD, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's caretaker Prime Minister Nasir-ul-Mulk said on Friday that his interim government will hold fair and transparent parliamentary elections on time.

Nasir-ul-Mulk told reporters after taking oath as the caretaker prime minister that holding of transparent elections is his top and foremost priority.

The Election Commission of Pakistan has already set July 25 for the elections of the National Assembly and four provincial assemblies.

"I will work according to the mandate given to me. I assure the nation that elections will be held on time," the prime minister said. He said he would select a small federal cabinet. Enditem
