Forest fires in northeast China in control

HARBIN, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Forest fires which broke out Thursday in some areas of the Greater Hinggan Mountains have been put out, local authorities said.

Fires broke out in more than 10 sites in the Greater Hinggan Mountains in northeast China on Thursday.

The fires were all under control with firefighters remaining on the alert.

The Greater Hinggan Mountains have been hit by thunderstorms in recent days. Enditem
