Morocco nabs Congolese national over suspected cocaine trafficking

RABAT, May 31 (Xinhua) -- A Congolese national heading to Brazil's Sao Paulo was arrested at the Mohammed V airport in Casablanca over cocaine trafficking, the Moroccan police said Thursday.

A total of 100 capsules containing 1.36 kg of cocaine was removed from the stomach of the 35-year-old suspect in hospital, according to a police statement.

The investigation, led by the public prosecutor's office, is underway, after the suspect was remanded in police custody.

Morocco seized a record 2.84 tons of cocaine in 2017, 1.5 tons more than the amount seized in 2016. Enditem
