Czech President to name Babis PM for second time

Xinhua,June 01, 2018 Adjust font size:

PRAGUE, May 31 (Xinhua) -- After a meeting with Czech President Milos Zeman at the Lany Chateau on Thursday, ANO leader and the current Prime Minister Andrej Babis said at a press conference that the president will name him the prime minister for the second time on June 6.

Babis said he presumed that after being appointed, he would be given a deadline to a form a new cabinet. He said his government might ask the Chamber of Deputies for confidence in the week after July 10.

Babis declined to elaborate on the composition of the future government of the Social Democrats (CSSD) and ANO.

He said the situation would be more clear in mid-June, after the announcement of the results of the Social Democrat referendum on whether to enter the government with ANO, supported by the Communists party.

Babis said he and Zeman discussed various options and names, and he did not want to comment on this because it is still not clear. He said they will certainly wait for the outcome of the referendum of CSSD.

It is presumed that the Social Democrats would support their presence in the government in the referendum. It ends on June 14 and the party will announce its result one day later. Enditem
