French shares drop 0.53 pct Thursday

PARIS, May 31 (Xinhua) -- French shares lost on Thursday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 down 0.53 percent, or 28.95 points, to close at 5,398.40 points.

Of the 40 selected large companies, 30 lost in the day.

BNP Paribas, French banking giant tumbled 2.18 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. French bank Peugeot was down 2.13 percent and French tire group Michelin lost 2.12 percent.

French digital service giant Atos advanced 3.70 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. French aviation group Safran rose 1.39 percent and French multinational Commercial property investor Unibail-Rodamco was up 0.89 percent. Enditem
