Chicago agricultural commodities mixed in morning trading

Xinhua,May 31, 2018 Adjust font size:

CHICAGO, May 31 (Xinhua) -- Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) agricultural commodities traded mixed on Thursday morning, with wheat futures rising on reports that Egypt rejected a cargo of Russian wheat.

July corn was 2.5 cents higher at 3.96 U.S. dollars per bushel as of 1530 GMT, July wheat was 5.75 cents higher at 5.2775 dollars, July soybean was down 3.25 cents at 10.1975 dollars.

Egypt, the world's biggest importer of wheat, rejected the shipment from Russia due to excessive amounts of grain fungus, according to a statement of Egypt's Agriculture Ministry. That may mean the North African nation will turn to the United States for wheat supplies.

Weather has been the main concern for market watchers as extremely dry weather in the United States, Russia, and Australia is threatening crops. Enditem
