Kenya table tennis to enter six players to Youth Africa Games

Xinhua,May 31, 2018 Adjust font size:

NAIROBI, May 31 (Xinhua) -- Kenya will enter only three boys and three girls in the third edition of the Africa Youth Games, which will be held from July 18-27 in Algiers, Algeria.

A team of 12 players have moved to camp in their final preparations for the games as table tennis seeks to rival athletics in medal haul at the games, which are held after every four years.

Kenya Table Tennis Association (KTTA) Fixtures Secretary Micheal Kuria said they have the best 12 athletes and only half of them will make the cut to travel to Algiers in July.

Kuria said he anticipate Kenya players to develop and dominate the sport like their colleagues from China.

"The players have been following the training of their coaches who are also their teachers. This is to ensure that their education is not disrupted. We are waiting for more details to know when and where they'll be camping. This information can only come from the National Olympic Committee of Kenya," Kuria said. Enditem
