Highway link between eastern and western Slovakia to be done in 2025

Xinhua,May 31, 2018 Adjust font size:

BRATISLAVA, May 30 (Xinhua) -- The date for the completion of the D1 highway between Bratislava and Kosice is set for 2025, local media reported Wednesday.

"The processes are set realistically rather than optimistically, so that the deadline can be managed," stressed Ladislav Dudas, National Highway Company (NDS) investment manager.

The last stretch on the D1 highway to Kosice, the eastern city of Slovakia hasn't been started and for which no tender has yet been launched.

This particular D1 stretch is expected to cost between 870 and 880 million euros (1.35-1.37 billion U.S. dollars).

Slovakia has been waiting for a highway linking the Eastern and Western parts of the country for years, and the deadline for its completion has changed several times. The first one was set for 2006. Enditem
