Spanish shares plummets 2.49 pct on Tuesday

MADRID, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Spanish shares dropped on Tuesday, with the benchmark stock market index Ibex-35 down 2.49 percent or 243.10 points to 9,521.30 points.

The 35 large companies included in the index suffered losses because of the political uncertainty due to the motion of non-confidence against Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy that will be discussed on Thursday and Friday at the Spanish Congress of Deputies.

Spain's fifth largest bank Banco Sabadell lost 6.82 percent, being the top loser of the session. Spain's largest bank Banco Santander fell 5.43 percent and Spain's fourth largest bank Bankia lost 5.20 percent.

Spain's energy company Repsol lost 0.13 percent, infrastructure company Tecnicas Reunidas went down 0.51 percent and airline group IAG was down 0.53 percent. Enditem
