Polish economy grows 5.2 pct in Q1: statistics

WARSAW, May 30 (Xinhua) -- The Polish economy grew by 5.2 percent year on year in the first quarter of 2018 after a confirmed 4.9 percent growth in the fourth quarter of 2017, Polish Central Statistical Office (GUS) data showed on Wednesday.

Earlier in a flash estimate, GUS expected Poland's GDP (gross domestic product) to grow by 4.9 percent in the first quarter.

Poland's Q1 investments grew by 8.1 percent year on year, private consumption increased by 4.8 percent year on year and Poland's Q1 domestic demand rose by 6.8 percent, GUS said.

Local economists expected Poland's Q1 investments to grow by 8.7 percent year on year, private consumption to increase by 5.2 percent and domestic demand to rise by 5.4 percent. Enditem
