Iran says Total has 2 months to decide on gas project

TEHRAN, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Iran urges French energy firm Total to seek waiver from the United States to remain in Iran's South Pars 11 (SP11) development project, Press TV reported on Wednesday.
Total and the French government can talk with the U.S. government over the next two months to see whether the French company would stay in the project, Iranian Petroleum Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh was quoted as saying.
Otherwise, Iran will replace Total with China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) in this project, he added.
On May 16, Total said it might not be able to continue its gas development project in Iran, unless it gets a waiver from the United States to protect it from reimposed sanctions.
The SP11 project is a gas development project dedicated to the supply of domestic gas to the Iranian market, which was executed on July 4, 2017.
On May 8, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. would withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal and reinstate sanctions that were in force before the implementation of the landmark agreement. Enditem
