German shares gain 0.93 pct Wednesday

FRANKFURT, May 30 (Xinhua) -- German stocks rose on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index up by 117.25 points, or 0.93 percent, to close at 12,783.76 points.

Pharmaceutical company Merck won the most among the blue chips, with its shares rising by 4.12 percent. Multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company Bayer and energy group RWE rose by 3.49 percent and 3.08 percent respectively.

German airlines Lufthansa lost the most among the blue chips, by falling 1.57 percent. Multinational building materials company HeidelbergCement went down by 0.71 percent. Personal-care company Beiersdorf decreased by 0.08 percent.

Bayer was the most-traded share with a turnover of 499.98 million euros (581.57 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
