UN chief condemns attack in Belgium

UNITED NATIONS, May 29 (Xinhua) -- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday condemned the attack that killed two police officers and a civilian in Liege, Belgium.

Guterres extended his condolences to the families of the victims, the people and government of Belgium and wished those injured a speedy recovery, said his spokesman Stephane Dujarric in a statement.

The United Nations stands in solidarity with Belgium in its fight against terrorism and violent extremism, it said.h A man killed two police officers and a passerby in the eastern Belgian city of Liege on Tuesday. The attacker was shot dead by police. The Belgian authorities did not rule out the incident as a terrorist act. Enditem
