Canadian stock market extends losses

TORONTO, May 23 (Xinhua) -- The Canadian main stock market continued edging down Wednesday as the price of oil continued to fall.

The Toronto Stock Exchange's benchmark Standard & Poor's/TSX Composite Index edged down 10.99 points, or 0.07 percent, to end the day at 16,133.80 points.

Shares in the energy sector lost an average of 1.05 percent.

The biggest decliner was Royal Bank of Canada which fell 0.6 percent.

Ivanhoe Mines Ltd dropped 4.6 percent and Teck Resources Ltd dipped 4.1 percent, while Lundin Mining Corp fell 4 percent.

Alamos Gold Inc rose 5 percent and Eldorado Gold Corp advanced 5 percent while ECN Capital Corp gained 4.1 percent. Enditem
