Celta Vigo name Antonio Mohamed as new first team coach

MADRID, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Spanish Liga Santander club Celta Vigo announced on Tuesday that Argentinian Antonio Mohamed, 48, will be their first team coach for the next two seasons.

Mohamed replaces Juan Carlos Unzue, who was sacked on Saturday night following a disappointing campaign which saw Celta finish the 2017-18 season in the 13th place with 49 points and failing to qualify to play in Europe.

Nicknamed 'The Turk', Mohamed has never coached in Europe before, with nearly all of his career in Argentina and Mexico, where he has won two league titles with Tijuana and America and a Cup with Monterrey.

Local reports guess that Celta Vigo wants a coach with a strong personality in the locker room after Unzue's more relaxed style of leadership. Enditem
