French shares gain 0.41 pct on Monday

PARIS, May 21 (Xinhua) -- French shares edged up on Monday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 0.41 percent, or 23.01 points, to close at 5,637.51 points.

Among the 40 selected large companies, 27 gained in the day.

European aeronautic giant Airbus advanced 3.05 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Pernod Ricard SA, a French company that produces and sells wines and spirits, rose 1.65 percent, followed by French multinational food-products corporation Danone, which gained 1.59 percent.

The international telecommunications company Bouygues went down by 1.45 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. French tire group Michelin lost 0.70 percent. French telecommunications company Orange edged down 0.66 percent. Enditem
