1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close higher Monday

BEIJING, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks extended their gains on Monday, buoyed by Hainan-related companies and integrated circuit makers.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index went up 0.64 percent to end at 3,213.84 points, while the Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.87 percent higher at 10,765.35 points.
Combined turnover on the two bourses rose sharply to 461.2 billion yuan (about 72.1 billion U.S. dollars) from 372.6 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Hainan Dadonghai Tourism Centre saw its shares jump by the daily limit of 10 percent to close at 13.04 yuan as China's southernmost island province unveiled its latest plan to attract investment.
Among the circuit makers, Ninestar Corporation gained 7.09 percent to 33.08 yuan, while Shanghai Phichem Material gained 2.27 percent to 22.09 yuan.
On the losing side, the oil and livestock sectors led the plunge on Monday. Shares of Shandong Yisheng Livestock and Poultry Breeding lost 9.42 percent to 17.3 yuan.
The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, went up 1.4 percent to close at 1,862.48 points Thursday. Enditem
