Morocco seizes 51,500 ecstasy pills at northern port

RABAT, May 21 (Xinhua) -- A total of 51,500 ecstasy pills were seized Sunday night at Morocco's Mediterranean Tangier-Med Port, the Moroccan police said in a statement on Monday.

The drug was concealed in a truck heading to Morocco, the statement said, adding that the vehicle's two drivers were arrested.

An investigation is underway for ramifications and links of this drug-trafficking attempt, it said.

Morocco has foiled many cases of trafficking psychotropic tablets.

According to official statistics, Moroccan security services seized some 2.87 million of psychotropic tablets between May 2015 and May 2018. Enditem
