ISLAMABAD -- At least five people were killed and two others injured in an explosion at a hotel in Pakistan's northwest city of Peshawar on Friday morning, police said.

Peshawar city police head Qazi Jamilur Rehman confirmed that five members of a family lost their lives after an explosion occurred in a room of a hotel at Bilal Town area of Peshawar. (Pakistan-Peshawar-Blast)

SYDNEY -- Seven people, including four children, have been shot dead in the early hours of Friday morning, near the Margaret River area, some 270 km south of Perth in Western Australia.

Western Australian Police Commissioner Chris Dawson said officers were called to a property in a small town called Osmington at 05:15 (AWST), were they made the gruesome discovery. (Australia-Shooting)

SINGAPORE -- More than 30 people were injured in a collision involving two buses at a bus stop here Friday morning.

According to the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF), 33 were injured in the accident in Jalan Jurong Kechil. They were taken to three hospitals. (Singapore-Bus accident)

KANDAHAR -- Four suspected insurgents have been arrested in Afghanistan's southern province of Kandahar as Afghan and coalition forces continued in mopping-up operations, authorities said Friday.

"A four-member group of Taliban terrorists has been arrested after a raid in surrounding areas of Kandahar province recently," provincial department of the country's primary intelligence agency National Directorate of Security (NDS) said in a statement. (Afghanistan-Insurgents-Arrest)

MOSCOW -- Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Thursday that the preservation of the Iran nuclear deal is of fundamental importance for international and regional security and the global non-proliferation regime.

During a phone call initiated by the Turkish side, Putin and Erdogan confirmed the two countries' commitment to cooperate with other major parties that have contributed to the deal and coordinate steps over the matter, the Kremlin said. (Russia-Turkey-Iran) Enditem
