Canadian stock market continuing up Thursday

TORONTO, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Canada's main stock market continued rising Thursday as gold miners rallied along with prices for the precious metal.

The Toronto Stock Exchange's benchmark Standard & Poor's/TSX Composite Index rose 48.69 points, or 0.31 percent, to end the day at 15,959.50.

A total of 144 issues advanced and 100 others declined.

The Canadian dollar rose to 0.78.23 U.S. dollar.

The biggest gainer was Enbridge, jumping 9.45 points, or 1.9 percent to 42.25 Canadian dollars after the pipeline company posted quarterly results and said it may sell more assets this year.

Canadian Natural Resources Ltd rose 1.22 percent to 46.46 Canadian dollars.

Great Canadian Gaming Corp, Pan American Silver Corp and Stars Group Inc rose 26.7 percent, 9.9 percent and 9.5 percent respectively.

Cascades Inc, Paramount Resources Ltd and Open Text Corp fell 7.6 percent, 7.4 percent and 6.3 percent separately. Enditem
