Xinhua, Kyodo agree to further advance cooperation

BEIJING, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Cai Mingzhao, president of China's Xinhua News Agency, met on Thursday with Kyodo News President Masaki Fukuyama, calling on both sides to further enhance cooperation.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the signing of the China-Japan Treaty of Peace and Friendship. Cai said Xinhua is willing to enhance exchanges with Japanese media to help forge ahead the healthy and stable development of state-to-state relations.

Calling Kyodo an important partner of Xinhua, Cai said the two news agencies have had sound cooperation in the past five decades.

He expressed appreciation to Fukuyama and Kyodo for the sincere support they have provided to Xinhua during the launch of its Japanese News Service, encouraging both sides to further explore cooperation potential.

Hailing the long-term friendship between Kyodo and Xinhua, Fukuyama said Kyodo stands ready to further cooperate with Xinhua in Japanese news services and other areas.

Xinhua launched its Japanese News Service on Feb. 1, providing news articles, photographs and video and audio reports in the Japanese language.

Japanese is the eighth language in which Xinhua releases news reports, following Chinese, English, French, Russian, Spanish, Arabic and Portuguese.

The Japanese news service is Xinhua's first multi-media news service intended for a single country. Enditem
