Singapore stocks close 0.31 pct lower

SINGAPORE, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) wend down 0.31 percent or 10.95 points to close at 3537.59.

A total of 1.57 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.16 billion Singapore dollars (about 862.69 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 193 to 189.

The STI index closed up 0.15 percent or 5.37 points to close at 3548.54 Wednesday. Enditem
