1st LD: Earthquake felt in parts of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, May 9 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake initially measured at 6.4 magnitude hit parts of Pakistan on Wednesday afternoon, local media reported.

According to the reports, the strong tremors were felt in different areas of the country, including northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, northwest tribal areas bordering Afghanistan, eastern Punjab province and the capital Islamabad.

The tremors created panic among people who rushed out of their houses to the open places, the reports said.

The proceeding of the Senate, the upper house of the country's parliament, was postponed for 10 minutes following the earthquake.

No loss of life or property is reported yet. Enditem
