PARIS, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian right back Dani Alves should be in time for the 2018 World Cup in Russia following a right knee injury, his club Paris Saint-Germain announced on Wednesday.

Alves injured his right knee with 10 minutes to go in Tuesday's French Cup final, where PSG beat third-division sides Les Herbiers 2-0 for their 12th title of the tournament.

Alves' injury was initially feared as a rupture of cruciate ligament, but Wednesday's examination result was reassuring.

"His condition requires a minimum of three weeks of care before reassessing the need for surgical treatment," read a PSG statement.

Brazilian national team head coach Tite will announced the 23-man squad next Monday. Alves should take up one place in Selecao without any aggravated injury.

Brazilian star Neymar, also in PSG, was in his final stage of post-surgery recovery anticipating for a timely comeback for World Cup. The record fee signing featured in Tuesday's final on the stand of Stade de France. Enditem
