TOKYO -- Trade ministers of China and Japan pledged to further enhance bilateral economic and trade cooperation during their meeting here on Wednesday.
Chinese Minister of Commerce Zhong Shan, who is accompanying Chinese Premier Li Keqiang here for the first visit of a Chinese premier to Japan in eight years, said Li's visit is significant for bilateral relationship, and will guide and promote Sino-Japanese economic and trade relationship to make new development in the new era. KABUL -- Anti-government militants launched complex offensives on two police stations in Afghanistan's capital Kabul on Wednesday and so far seven people were confirmed dead and 17 injured, while clashes continue between militants and security forces in downtown Kabul.
According to police spokesman Hashmat Stanikzai, two militants equipped with arms and suicide vests targeted a police station in Police District 13 in Dashti Barchi locality at 11:30 a.m. local time. After hours of fighting, six people including two police personnel and two attackers were killed and nine others including two police personnel sustained injuries. (Afghanistan-Attacks)

JAKARTA -- Militants killed five members of an anti-terror squad and is taking another hostage in a prison riot in the outskirts of the capital Jakarta, police said on Wednesday.
One terrorist was also killed in the incident that broke out since Tuesday night, national police spokesman Brigadier Gen. Muhammad Iqbal said.
The spokesman said the militants seized all weapons owned by the five police personnel whom they killed. (Indonesia-Prison Riot)

ISLAMABAD -- An earthquake of 6.4-magnitude jolted parts of Pakistan on Wednesday afternoon, the country's National Seismic Monitoring Center said.
According to the seismic center, the earthquake struck at 3:41 p.m. local time (1041 GMT) with the epicenter determined at Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region with a focal depth of 97 km. (Pakistan-Quake)
