LJUBLJANA, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Slovenian Parliamentary Speaker Milan Brglez has denounced U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement on U.S. withdrawal from the nuclear agreement with Iran, urging the other signatories to continue to respect the deal.
Brglez, also an expert on international law, said the withdrawal is a major blow to international law, according to a Slovenian Press Agency STA report on Wednesday, citing a National Assembly statement.
"The formal withdrawal which would be accompanied by the reintroduction of U.S. sanctions against Iran before the period of notice runs out would be a clear and blatant violation of both the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties and customary international law," the speaker said.
Brglez thus called on the other signatories "and especially the EU to continue to unconditionally respect the agreement and to take all the necessary measures to make sure that the agreement, which is important for international peace and security, is also respected by other members of the international community."
