7 killed in truck-mini bus collision in India's Tamil Nadu

NEW DELHI, May 9 (Xinhua) -- At least seven people were killed and one injured Wednesday after a truck collided head-on with a mini-bus carrying Hindu pilgrims in India's southern state of Tamil Nadu, police said.

The accident took place near Palani in Dindigul district, 428 km south of Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu.

"Today a mini-bus carrying pilgrims collided head-on with a goods truck here killing seven people," a police official posted in Dindigul district said. "Four people died on spot and three others succumbed inside hospital. One person is still undergoing treatment."

Officials said the deceased were identified as Hindu pilgrims hailing from neighboring Kerala state.

"These people were on their way to the famous Lord Muruga temple," the police official said. Enditem
