India hopes Iranian nuclear issue be resolved peacefully

Xinhua,May 09, 2018 Adjust font size:

NEW DELHI, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Iran's nuclear issue should be peacefully resolved through dialogue and diplomacy, said an official statement issued by India's external affairs ministry on Wednesday.

The statement also appealed to all concerned parties to address and resolve issues regarding the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action), commonly known as the Iranian nuclear deal.

"India has always maintained that the Iranian nuclear issue should be resolved peacefully through dialogue and diplomacy by respecting Iran's right to peaceful uses of nuclear energy as also the international community's strong interest in the exclusively peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program," said the ministry's statement.

"All parties should engage constructively to address and resolve issues that have arisen with respect to the JCPOA," it added.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he will withdraw his country from the Iran nuclear deal, a decision that immediately drew global frustration and outcry. Enditem
