ULAN BATOR, May 9 (Xinhua) -- A sheep has given birth to five healthy lambs in Mongolia's northernmost Khuvsgul Province, local media reported Wednesday.

Mongolia's national news agency Montsame reported that the mother sheep and her babies are in good health and three of the lambs are being fed by a different ewe.

Herdsman J.Bold-Erdene, the owner of the sheep, described the birth of quintuplets as a good omen.

The mother sheep gave birth to twins last year.

Multiple births among sheep are not rare, but ewes usually give birth to one to three lambs at each birthing event. Enditem
