LUSAKA, May 9 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Wednesday.
-- The Zambian government has expressed concern about the low compliance levels among eligible tax-payers, a move that was affecting implementation of developmental projects.
Minister of Finance Margaret Mwanakatwe said that only 57 percent of eligible tax-payers are currently fulfilling their tax obligations. (Zambia Daily Mail)
-- Africans should begin to support indigenous companies investing in the oil refinery sectors, the African Refiners and Distributors Association, an association representing the pan-African downstream oil industry has said.
Joel Dervain, the association's executive secretary said it was devastating that the African refinery sector was dominated by foreign companies. (The Mast)
-- The head of Zambia's soccer governing body says those applying for the national soccer team coaching job were doing so in vain as there was no vacancy.
In response to media reports that the Football Associations of Zambia (FAZ) has been inundated with applications from foreign coaches vying for the coaching job, Andrew Kamanga, the president of the soccer body said the association was not scouting for a new coach as current coach Wedson Nyirenda was still in charge.
