TOKYO -- China, Japan and South Korea should carry out joint projects in such areas as capacity cooperation, poverty reduction, disaster management and energy saving through a new cooperation mode of "China-Japan-South Korea+X," said Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Wednesday.

Li made the proposal at a trilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and South Korean President Moon Jae-in here in Tokyo. (China-Japan-S.Korea)

WASHINGTON -- The United States on Tuesday signed a trilateral statement of intent with Finland and Sweden to enhance trilateral defense cooperation amid rising rhetoric against Russia.

According to a Pentagon statement, U.S. Secretary of Defense James Mattis met with his Finnish and Swedish counterparts Jussi Niinisto and Peter Hultqvist earlier Tuesday at the Pentagon. (US-Finland-Sweden)

TRIPOLI -- The death toll from a suicide attack at a checkpoint of the Libyan eastern-based army on Tuesday has risen to four, according to a military source.

The explosion near Sirte, some 450 km east of the capital Tripoli, killed two soldiers and two civilians and injured six others, the source told Xinhua late Tuesday. (Libya-Suicide-Attack) Enditem
