Paramilitary trooper kills family, self in India's Tripura

NEW DELHI, May 8 (Xinhua) -- A paramilitary trooper Tuesday gunned down his wife, two children and later committing suicide by shooting himself dead in northeastern state of Tripura, police said.

The killings took place at Subhasnagar locality in the outskirts of Agartala, the capital city of Tripura.

"Today a paramilitary trooper of the Tripura State Rifles gunned down his wife and two children aged 11 and two years," a police official said. "The trooper is said to have stolen service rifle of his colleague to carry out the killings."

Police have ordered an inquiry into the killings.

On Sunday a border guard of India's Border security Force killed three of his colleagues and later shot himself dead using his service rifle in Unakoti district of the state. Enditem
