Singapore stocks close 0.29 pct higher

SINGAPORE, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 0.29 percent or 10.31 points to close at 3543.17.

A total of 1.75 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.17 billion Singapore dollars (about 875.39 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 207 to 200.

The STI index closed down 0.35 percent or 12.52 points to close at 3532.86 on Monday. Enditem
