TOKYO, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Tuesday morning as investors were encouraged by U.S. shares advancing overnight and solid earnings reports from firms here, although gains were capped on consternation ahead of U.S. President Donald Trump's decision on the Iran nuclear deal expected later in the day.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 69.26 points, or 0.31 percent, from Monday to 22,536.42.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 8.63 points, or 0.49 percent, to 1,781.81.

Fishery, agriculture and forestry, metal product, and electric power and gas-oriented issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break. Enditem
