BERLIN, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Franck Ribery and Bayern Munich have agreed on a contract extension, the German giants confirmed in an official statement on Monday.

The 35-year-old Frenchman has extended his expiring contract for one year to stay with Bayern Munich until June 2019.

"We are very delighted that Franck will stay with us. He has once again proved his quality in the Bundesliga as well as in the Champions League this season. Besides, he is also one of our crowd pleasers," Bayern's sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic said.

Ribery joined the German record champions from French outfit Marseille in the summer 2007 to become a key player in the midfield. Since his arrival he has provided 117 assists and 80 goals in overall 247 appearances.

"I am very happy to play another year for this big club. Munich has become my home, for my family and me. I am very proud to be wearing Bayern's jersey in the new season as well," Ribery told the club's official homepage.

The former France international clinched with Bayern eight Bundesliga titles and five German Cup. In addition, he lifted the UEFA Champions League trophy and won the UEFA Best Player in Europe Award in 2013. Enditem
