China renews yellow alert for rainstorms

Xinhua,May 07, 2018 Adjust font size:

China's national weather observatory renewed a yellow alert for rainstorms in southern and eastern areas Sunday.

In the next three days, heavy rain may hit parts of Anhui, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Jiangsu and Jiangxi, with gales in some areas, according to the National Meteorological Center (NMC).

From Sunday to Monday, some regions will see more than 100 millimeters of rain per hour.

The NMC warned local residents against outdoor activities and advised local authorities to take precautions against flooding and geological disasters.

China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red the most severe, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
