SILICON VALLEY, the United States -- The U.S.-China relationship established four decades ago is the most important bilateral ties in the world today and peoples in both countries are benefiting from the deepening economic integration, former U.S. Ambassador to China Gary Locke has said.

"We are gathering here in Silicon valley at a time of rising tensions between the United States and China with the potential of full blown trade war," Locke said here over the weekend in a keynote speech at the 2018 annual conference of a prominent Chinese American group, the Committee of 100 (C100). LAGOS -- At least 45 people have been confirmed dead and others wounded during an attack at Gwaska village in Nigeria's central north Kaduna state, eyewitnesses said Sunday.

The victims were killed on Saturday afternoon when scores of suspected bandits raided Gwaska village, in Birnin-Gwari area of Kaduna state, a local vigilante group told Xinhua. (Nigeria-Attack)

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistani Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal was shot and injured in an assassination attempt during a rally in Narowal district of the country's eastern Punjab province on Sunday evening, police said.

A spokesperson of the Punjab government said the minister is out of danger and has been airlifted by a helicopter to a hospital in Lahore, capital of the province. (Pakistan-Minister-Assassination)

TEHRAN -- If the United States pulls out of the nuclear deal, it will be a "historical regret," Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said here on Sunday.

Rouhani dismissed Washington's threats, saying that the Iranians are not afraid of the United States. "This great nation will continue its progress and development" regardless of the threats, he said. (Iran-U.S.-Nuke) Enditem
