SARAJEVO, May 6 (Xinhua) -- The state of natural disaster due to floods is declared in Bosnia and Herzegovina's (BiH) municipality Usora on Sunday, some 150 kilometres north of the capital, BiH Federal Civil Protection Administration (FUCZ) said in a statement.

After the heavy rainfall and thunderstorms which hit the northern part of BiH most heavily on Saturday and Sunday, Usora Municipality Mayor Zvonimir Andjelic decided to declare the state of natural disaster.

The abundant rainfall caused streams and rivers to spill over in the municipality, causing damage on roads, private houses, economic facilities and agricultural areas.

Road traffic is suspended on 10 local roads, and some 30 family houses and economic facilities have been flooded, the statement said.

The biggest damage was recorded on the road infrastructure where several bridges collapsed over the river and electric wires were broken, but there were no reports of casualties, local authorities said.

Apart from flooding, residents of Usora Municipality informed local authorities of numerous cases of domestic animals being drowned as corollary of floods.

Floods also submerged numerous agricultural areas, which resulted in the destruction of seeds planted.

Local authorities advised all administrative bodies, legal entities to put all their resources at disposal to the Municipal Civil Protection for the purpose of rescuing people and goods. Enditem
