Palestinian killed, another injured near Gaza-Israel border fence: medical sources

Xinhua,May 06, 2018 Adjust font size:

GAZA, May 6 (Xinhua) -- One Palestinian was killed and another injured on Sunday near the Gaza-Israel borders, medical sources said.

"One man was killed and another was seriously injured in the east of the southern Gaza Strip city of Khanyounis," spokesman for health ministry in Gaza, Ashraf al-Qedra, said in a statement.

This brings the death toll among Palestinians in Gaza to 46 since mass anti-Israel rallies started on March 30.

More than 7,000 Palestinians have also been injured in the massive six-week rallies, known as "Great Return Marches."

The rallies, which always witness high turnout on Fridays, are expected to peak on May 15, the day Israel celebrates its establishment, while the Palestinians mark the forcible transfer of two thirds of the Palestinian people and the ethnic cleansing of 418 Palestinian villages.

Israel rejects the protests and vowed to respond to any border infiltration attempts that may threaten its sovereignty as well as its residents.

Israeli also accused Hamas movement of organizing the rallies. Enditem
