LUSAKA, May 6 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Sunday.

-- Zambian President Edgar Lungu has assured that the government will continue to enact laws and introduce regulations which will reduce accidents on the country's roads and allow businesses to work in a safe environment.

The Zambian leader said the government will apply appropriate technologies such as intelligent transport system to make the roads safer for the traveling public. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- The introduction of early childhood schools in rural areas will give vulnerable children access to quality education which will in turn improve the literacy levels among families, a lobby organization has said.

Child Fund Zambia country director Dereje Adugna said children exposed to early education were more likely to be more confident in their abilities and to feel encouraged to aspire to greater heights. (Times of Zambia)

-- The Zambian government said it will fully support Rasatom Overseas, a Russian company that will construct the country's first Nuclear Research Center.

-- Zambia's Maggie Mulubwa, star of a local feature film "I Am Not a Witch" by local producer Rungano Nyoni, has won Best Actress at the 15th edition of the Tafira-Tangiers African Film Festival 2018 held in Morocco.
