MAIMANA, Afghanistan, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Seven civilians lost their lives and another sustained injuries as a roadside bomb struck their car outside Maimana, capital of north Afghanistan's Faryab province Sunday, a local police spokesman said.

"An eight-member group of daily wagers were going to a work site from Maimana to Almar district today morning, but unfortunately a mine planted by militants on a road struck their car, killing seven innocent laborers on the spot and injuring another," Abdul Karim Yurash told Xinhua.

Blaming Taliban group for planting the mine and said the insurgent group by organizing such attacks want to terrorize the people.

Taliban militants who are active in parts of Faryab province are yet to claim responsibility. Enditem
