TUNIS, May 5 (Xinhua) -- The inflation for household consumption in Tunisia reached an alarming rate of 7.7 percent in April, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) of Tunisia said Saturday.
The high rate is mainly attributed to the 8.9-percent rise in food prices, and the 10.5-percent rise in transport expenses, it noted.
Meanwhile, the consumer price index (CPI) rose 1 percent in April.
During the first quarter of 2018, Tunisia's exports reached 10.2 billion dinars (4.08 billion U.S. dollars), while the imports hit 13.8 billion dinars, registering a year-on-year increase of 35.2 percent and 21.3 percent respectively. Enditem
