MEHTARLAM, Afghanistan -- Some 11 Afghan civilians were injured in a blast in eastern province of Laghman on Saturday, the provincial government said.

"An explosion occurred at round 11:30 a.m. local time in Hajji Ayoub Market in provincial capital Mehtarlam city. A total of 11 civilians were wounded following the blast and the injured were shifted to a hospital in the city," it said in a statement. (Afghanistan-Explosion-Toll)

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistani Army Chief Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa on Saturday confirmed death sentences to 11 hardcore terrorists for their involvement in heinous offences related to terrorism, the military said.

The army said that three other convicts have also been awarded imprisonments. These convicts were tried by special military courts. (Pakistan-Terrorists-Sentences)

MANILA -- China on Saturday proposed four steps that the Asian Development Bank (ADB) could take to further promote inclusive development in the Asia-Pacific region.

"Looking to the future, I hope that based on the development experience of the past 50 years, ADB can keep pace with times and engage in innovation, and actively support the promotion of inclusive development in the Asia-Pacific region," said Vice Minister of China's Ministry of Finance Yu Weiping, who represented Minister of China's Ministry of Finance Liu Kun at the business session of the 51st annual meeting of the ADB Board of Governors. NEW DELHI -- Indian police have arrested as many as 16 men in connection with the gangrape and murder of a minor girl in the eastern state of Jharkhand.

The 16-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by four men who kidnapped her from her house when she was alone in the state's Chatra district Thursday night. A day later, the girl was burnt alive by the accused for complaining about the crime to the local village council. (India-Gangrape-Arrest)

KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysian police and military personnel casted their votes early on Saturday for the general election to be held in May 9, local media reported.
