WARSAW, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Seven miners were missing after a tremor struck a mine in Jastrzebie-Zdroj in southern Poland, local media reported on Saturday.

"Seven miners are missing. There are eight rescue teams at the mine," spokeswoman for coal mining company State Mining Authority (WUG) Anna Swiniarska-Tadla told Polish Press Agency (PAP).

Other miners have been brought to the surface, Swiniarska-Tadla said.

The tremor struck the mine at 11:00 a.m. local time, 900 meters under the ground.

Earlier there were reports said that the tremor site had high methane levels and rescuers could not go to there. Enditem
